A Midsummer Midlife Midwest Dream

Midwest Boomer Bloggers with our hosts.
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Boomer Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

I just returned from several days of travel, which included time spent in Chicago near the summer solstice--or "midsummer" as Shakespeare calls it.

I was in the heart of downtown Chicago, aka the "Loop," which includes many shops, restaurants, buildings and artwork.

My trip included two nights in the beautiful Allerton Hotel and two days in the John Hancock Center.

Like Shakespeare's characters, I had a rollicking good time near the longest day of the year.  During my stay in Chicago, I got to meet 15 other midlife bloggers from the Midwest.  It was a dream come true.

Melissa L., Shelley & Hana
Check out their blogs, which contain information ranging from recycling to grandparenting to travel.

Anita Jader: Anita Jader Photography
Bonnie Alatta: Grandma Bonnie's Closet
Bonnie Woodrum: Passport to Frugal
Cheryl Therrien: Grandmother Diaries
Hana Haatainen Caye: The Green Grandma

Shelley & Bonne A. with their Droid Razr Maxx HDs
I took all the pictures in this post with the The Razr Maxx HD except the first one.

Another blogger "beamed" that to me.  How does that work?

1. The first person selects a photo from the camera gallery.

2. Then she and  her friend tap the backs of their phones together.

3. The picture then copies from the first phone to the second.

We will be working together over the next six months as Verizon Ambassadors. However, I am hoping to have a longer connection with this group of articulate, talented, dynamic and warm women.

How marvelous to see the people behind the blogs and the tweets that I have been reading for months prior!

I enjoyed connecting with other midlife bloggers as we soaked up the sights in downtown Chicago.

    1. Thanks for letting me "catch" you beaming pics with Shelley. I am very pleased with the pics. Who needs to buy postcards when you can lean out a trolley window with your phone?

  2. I loved meeting everyone in Chicago! It will be interesting to see how many 'converts' we get at the end of our trial period with our Droids. :)
